Amanda Dillon is a Lecturer and Editorial Assistant in the School of History and Art History at the University of East Anglia (UEA). She holds a PhD in literature (2012) and MA in Studies in Fiction (2008), with a BA in English from Radford University (2005). Her work straddles history and literature, focusing on narrative creation, historical theory, and interdisciplinary approaches. She teaches Victorian Britain, visual history, and gender studies, while maintaining expertise in science fiction and Gothic literature.
Key research interests include Victorian social history, sexuality, medical humanities, and narrative theory. Her recent book Metafiction and Narrative Worlds in Science Fiction (2025) explores intersections of fiction and theory. Upcoming projects include studies on time travel narratives and woman-authored alternate histories.
She actively contributes to academic discourse through peer reviews, conference participations (e.g., GFF Annual Conference), and public lectures. Awards include Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (2019). She supervises interdisciplinary PhD research in history and literature, and leads modules like History, Controversy and Debate and Doing History.
Additional roles include Disability Liaison Officer for her school and editorial work with Bloomsbury Press. Media engagements include judging the 2022 East Anglian Book Awards and commenting on cultural events like the Mary Wollstonecraft sculpture controversy.
