Alyssa Thurston serves as the Director of the UC Davis Mabie Law Library and holds the academic rank of Lecturer in Law at the UC Davis School of Law. She joined the institution in 2019 as Senior Research Law Librarian and later served as Interim Director. Prior to this, she worked at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law’s Harnish Law Library, where she held roles including Research & Electronic Services Librarian and Head of Reference Services.
- Education: B.A. in International Studies (East Asian Studies focus) from Middlebury College; J.D. from UCLA School of Law; M.L.I.S. from the University of Washington Information School.
Her research expertise focuses on legal research methodologies, law library operations, and advancing diversity and equity in legal education. She actively contributes to professional organizations such as the American Association of Law Libraries and the Northern California Association of Law Libraries, and maintains membership in the State Bar of California.
Publications include works in the Law Library Journal and a chapter in Integrating Doctrine and Diversity: Inclusion and Equity in the Law School Classroom (2021).
