Alvar Blomgren is a Lecturer at the Department of History, Stockholm University. His work bridges research and teaching in ancient and late Georgian history, focusing on political dynamics and their emotional undercurrents.

Blomgren's research explores democracy, emotions and politics, and protest movements across historical contexts. He investigates Sweden and Great Britain's political evolution, particularly in the 18th and 19th centuries.
His scholarly focus includes analyzing the role of emotional tactics in late Georgian England's political mobilization, as well as gender and class dynamics in 18th-century election contests. These works highlight intersections of citizenship, propaganda, and societal polarization.
Notable scientific recognition includes the Swedish University Association's prize for outstanding scholarly achievement (2023) for his doctoral thesis.
Blomgren supervises bachelor's and master's theses and participates in the Re-imagining Democracy international research project. He also leads a postdoctoral study on political propaganda and graphic design in early 19th-century Stockholm, supported by the Ridderstad Foundation for Historical Graphic Research.
