Roger Blomgren is a Professor at the University of Borås, affiliated with the Swedish School of Library and Information Science within the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT. He has been at the university since 2011 and previously served as a lecturer in political science at University West for 14 years. His research focuses on cultural policy and library science, employing computational linguistics methods such as topic modeling and sentiment analysis. He is currently involved in an international research project funded by the Norwegian Research Council, examining discursive shifts in the Swedish parliament. Blomgren collaborates with institutions like the Data as Impact Lab and serves as an assistant supervisor for doctoral students.
His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches, analyzing legislative texts to trace historical and political discursive changes. This includes studying topics like equality, climate change, and cultural policy. Blomgren's research also explores how scholarly studies are referenced in political debates, assessing the role of citations and hedging in argumentation.
