Jenny Johannisson is an Associate Professor in Library and Information Science at the University of Borås, affiliated with the Swedish School of Library and Information Science under the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education, and IT. Since 1995, she has focused on cultural policy research, particularly municipal and regional governance dynamics in globalized contexts. Her work explores how cultural policy autonomy is managed in political systems and its societal impacts through EU projects. She has held leadership roles including Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research (2014–2018) and Chair of the International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (2012–2020). She co-founded academic journals like Culture Unbound and Nordisk Kulturpolitisk Tidskrift, and served as Deputy Director at the Swedish Agency for Cultural Policy Analysis (2019–2024).
Her research interests emphasize the intersection of cultural policy with globalization, governance, and knowledge production. She actively collaborates with international institutions and sector actors to advance cultural policy discourse. Current roles include membership on Södertörn University’s Governing Board and contributions to adult education evaluations.
