Allister Gall is Lecturer and programme leader for BA Filmmaking at University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture. His work explores place, people and memory through film, with research interests in participatory projects and forgotten cinema histories.
Research focuses on:
- Community-based filmmaking
- Urban space representation
- Collective memory documentation
- Expanded cinema practices
His films and papers have been presented internationally including at Besides The Screen (Brazil), Atlantic Project (UK), and Sightlines: Filmmaking in the Academy (Australia).
Current projects include a large-scale film commission for BFI and The Box exploring local communities after dark, and research into Plymouth's Union Street cinema history for the Home of Movies Project.
