Allison Sekuler is a Professor and Sandra A. Rotman Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience at Baycrest Health Sciences, with faculty appointments in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University and the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto. She is Vice-President Research at Baycrest, a cognitive neuroscientist with expertise in visual processing, aging, and neurotechnology, and a recognized leader in translational research for age-related cognitive decline.
Education:
- B.A. in Mathematics & Psychology (1986, Pomona College)
- Ph.D. in Psychology (1991, University of California, Berkeley)
Her research focuses on understanding how aging affects visual processing and brain plasticity, with groundbreaking work showing that older brains rewire themselves to compensate for functional changes. She develops methods to prevent and detect age-related sensory and cognitive decline, collaborating internationally with academic and industry partners.
