Allison Christians is a Full Professor and holds the H. Heward Stikeman Chair in Tax Law at McGill University's Faculty of Law. Her work focuses on national and international tax law, emphasizing taxation's role in economic development, sustainable development goals, and the interplay between governmental and non-governmental institutions in shaping tax policy. She previously practiced tax law in New York, specializing in cross-border transactions, and taught at the University of Wisconsin and Northwestern University.
Education: JD from Columbia University (1999), LLM in Taxation from NYU (2003). Awards include the John Durnford Prize (2014) and Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching (2018). She contributes to Tax Analysts' Tax Notes International and maintains an active blog and social media presence, engaging with contemporary tax policy debates.
Research interests span tax law and technology, international tax cooperation, and rights-based taxation frameworks. Her recent work addresses digital economy taxation, global minimum tax reforms, and tax strategies for sustainable development. She serves as Associate Dean (Research) at McGill Law and chairs initiatives like the Stikeman Chair in Tax Law.
