Allan Santos da Rosa is a Research Fellow at Mecila (Maria Sibylla Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa) affiliated with the University of São Paulo, and currently serves as a Visiting Scholar at the Global South Studies Center (GSSC) of the University of Cologne since January 2024.
His research centers on social inequalities and developmental dynamics across the Global South, employing interdisciplinary methodologies to analyze political and social transformations. With a geographic focus on Africa and Latin America, his work emphasizes transregional collaboration through Mecila's framework that examines societal challenges including structural inequality, governance systems, and sustainable development pathways. This research aligns with GSSC's mission to investigate social-political change in underrepresented regions.
As part of the University of Cologne's Global South Studies Center, Santos da Rosa contributes to knowledge transfer initiatives and collaborative research projects examining societal transformations. His position facilitates academic exchange between Brazilian and German research ecosystems, particularly through Mecila's network connecting scholars from Africa, Asia, and Latin America to address complex global challenges through comparative perspectives.
