Alla Yemets

Alla Yemets is a distinguished Ukrainian academic serving as Head of Department of Cell Biology and Biotechnology at the Institute of Biotechnology and Genomics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine since 2017, and as Lecturer at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University since 1998. She holds the title of Full Professor in Biotechnology awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in 2013 and became an Associate Member (Corresponding Member) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2015.

Her research interests span Plant cytoskeleton, Plant molecular biotechnology and genomics, Plant cell biology and structural bioinformatics, Plant biochemistry and molecular biology, and Nanobiotechnology. Dr. Yemets has made significant contributions to plant science through her extensive research program that integrates cell biological approaches with modern biotechnological applications.

Dr. Yemets has received numerous prestigious awards including the State Prize of Ukraine for Science and Technology (2012) and the M.G. Kholodny Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2019). She was honored as an Honoured Fellow of Science and Technology of Ukraine in 2020 and received a Letter of gratitude from the Prime Minister of Ukraine in 2018 for significant personal achievements in science development.

She has held important governmental roles including being authorized by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for establishment of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. Dr. Yemets serves as Expert for REA, EC for Proposals Evaluation since 2021 and sits on various scientific committees including the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Internationally, she is Head of Ukrainian sub-cluster and Member of European Plant Science Organization (EPSO), Member of the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biologists, and Member of American Society of Plant Biologists. She serves on editorial boards of several prominent journals including Frontiers in Plant Science and Protoplasma.
