Aliza Shavarts is a part-time faculty member at Parsons School of Design, specializing in performance art and feminist theory. Her work interrogates bodily autonomy, reproductive rights, and institutional censorship. Notably, her 2008 undergraduate thesis, Untitled [Senior Thesis], explored self-managed abortion through performance, which was censored by Yale University. In 2018, she presented Off Scene at Artspace New Haven, a solo exhibition reflecting on marginalized narratives and feminist practices. Shavarts has contributed to journals like Women & Performance and authored works such as Aliza Shvarts: Off Scene. Her exhibitions, including An Imagination of Bodily Autonomy (2023), address contemporary issues of gender, power, and bodily agency.
