Alistair Sisson is a Macquarie University Research Fellow (MQRF) in the Discipline of Geography and Planning, affiliated with the School of Communication, Society and Culture and the Housing and Urban Research Centre. He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Sydney. His research focuses on the political and economic dynamics of housing, urban development, and public policy, with particular attention to public housing policy, territorial stigma, and urban governance innovation. Current work examines how housing data shapes policy framing through his MQRF project 'The politics of housing data'.
Teaching includes courses like Theory and Methods in Geography and Planning (GEOP2010/6080), Urban Dynamics (GEOP2070), and Social Sciences in Action (SCCI1002). His research outputs span 38 works across 2017–2025, with 2024 being particularly prolific. His work frequently explores topics such as urban governance reform, housing inequality, and the sociopolitical dimensions of urban renewal.
Key projects include the 2024–2025 initiative 'Housing supply and planning reform: a critical intervention' alongside researchers like Dr. Ruming and Prof. van den Nouwelant. His scholarship bridges theory and activism, addressing practical challenges like tenant displacement and policy implementation gaps.
