Dr. Lee Crookes is a Lecturer in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Sheffield, affiliated with the School of Geography and Planning. He coordinates the Westfield Action Research Project (WARP) and serves as Level 1 Year Tutor for undergraduate students.

As a critical geographer/planner, his research focuses on housing, class, gentrification, and urban regeneration, with a commitment to social justice and qualitative methods. His doctoral work examined the Housing Market Renewal program in northern England, emphasizing displacement and resident resistance.
Recent research extends planning 'from below' by exploring emplacement, territorial stigmatisation, and the exclusion of local knowledge in planning decisions. His publications span topics like air pollution, wellbeing in later life, and community-university engagement.
