Alison Ross is Professor of Philosophy at Monash University's Faculty of Arts and currently serves as Executive Director for Humanities and Creative Arts at the Australian Research Council (2023-2026). Her research explores applied aesthetics with emphasis on the connections between aesthetic concepts and theories of meaning, image theory, and signaling protocols in nature using aesthetic approaches to animal patterns.
She has supervised award-winning graduate projects in political philosophy, aesthetics, and critical theory, with several students receiving Monash's highest honors including the Mollie Holman University Medal and Vice-Chancellor's Thesis Excellence Award.
