Alison Gerard

Alison Gerard is a Professor in Law and Criminology at the Canberra Law School and Justice Studies at the University of Canberra, where she previously served as Head of School from 2020 to early 2023. Her research is dedicated to social justice, with a focus on the criminalisation of vulnerable populations, migration law, and Indigenous rights. She is actively involved in significant research projects, including an ARC Discovery Project on 'Crimmigration' in Australia.

Grants and Projects: Alison is currently a Chief Investigator on an ARC Discovery Project examining 'Crimmigration' in Australia, and has led or co-investigated several other significant research initiatives, including projects on the unfinished business of the Bringing Them Home Report and Australia-EU bilateral perspectives on global governance.

Professional Affiliations: She has held leadership roles in the Australasian Law Academics Association (ALAA) and the Council of Australian Law Deans (CALD), and serves on editorial boards and advisory panels for various legal and criminological journals and organizations.
