Leah Williams

Leah Williams is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, Society & Criminology, University of New South Wales. She specializes in criminology and criminal law, focusing on media portrayal of criminal trials, power dynamics in legal systems, and legal education. Her work examines the intersection of media, justice, and gender within courtroom contexts.

Education: BA(Crim)(Hons 1) and LLB(Hons 1) from UNSW.

Research interests include criminalisation, legal education reform, and the evolving relationship between courts and media. Her publications analyze tensions between open justice principles and procedural integrity in digital contexts, as well as sentencing policies for domestic violence-related homicide cases.

Teaching responsibilities include core courses such as Crime and the Criminal Process, Criminal Law and Justice 1/2, and The Criminal Trial. She actively contributes to UNSW's Law and Criminology programs.
