Dr Alison Anderson is a Research Fellow in the Department of Neuroscience at Monash University’s School of Translational Medicine. Her work focuses on genomic and proteomic analyses, with expertise in bioinformatics, systems biology, and epilepsy research. She leads clinical trials evaluating genomic screening’s utility in healthcare and collaborates on projects such as 'Reversing post-traumatic epilepsy' (2021–2025) and 'Transforming epilepsy care with precision medicine' (2022–2024).
Her research integrates multi-omics data to uncover mechanisms underlying neurological disorders, emphasizing machine learning applications in genetic studies. Key collaborations span global networks addressing epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, and rare genetic conditions like Rett syndrome. Anderson’s contributions include developing bioinformatics tools (e.g., ggVolcanoR) for differential expression analysis and investigating antiseizure drug safety profiles.
Recent publications highlight her work on GWAS-based epilepsy risk loci, sodium selenate’s neuroprotective effects, and computational studies of redox balance in epilepsy. She actively supervises PhD students and advocates for precision medicine approaches in neurological care.
