Aline Hernandez is a Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews, affiliated with the School of Art History and the Centre for Contemporary Art. Her work focuses on the politics of representation surrounding feminicide in contemporary Mexico, using photojournalism and feminist art practices to challenge state and societal necropolitical structures. She completed her PhD funded by the SGSAH AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, supervised by Dr. Catherine Spencer and Dr. Jeffrey Stevenson Murer.

Her research interests include decolonial art theory, gender violence representation, and the intersection of art and social justice. Key themes in her work are the performative nature of visual activism, historical memory, and the role of art in resisting systemic oppression.
