Aliki Economides is an Associate Professor at Laurentian University's McEwen School of Architecture. Trained as an architect and holding a Ph.D. in architectural and urban history from Harvard University, she is a Frank Knox Fellow and an Associate Member of McGill University's Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Montréal (CIRM).

Her research focuses on the roles of the built and natural environment in identity construction, the relationships between social and spatial injustices, and the history, theory, and practice of architectural ornament. She explores how spatial configurations perpetuate or challenge injustices and how ornament functions as a cultural and political medium. Her work bridges architectural history, urban studies, and social justice through critical examinations of Montreal's architectural heritage and contemporary spatial practices.
Her recent publications analyze resilience in Northern Canadian territories, imperial/post-imperial capital cities, and urban aesthetics, revealing consistent engagement with socio-political dimensions of architecture. The works demonstrate methodological diversity spanning archival research, film documentation, and interdisciplinary urban analysis with emphasis on Canadian contexts.
