Alicia Kelly serves as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law at Delaware Law School, Widener University. She previously held roles as Interim Dean (2022-23), Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty, and Associate Dean of Faculty Development. Her academic career includes positions as Assistant Professor at Western State University College of Law, visiting professor, and adjunct professor.
Educational Background: B.A. (magna cum laude) and J.D. (cum laude) from Temple University; LL.M. in Legal Education from Temple University Beasley School of Law. She was an Abraham L. Freedman Fellow and Lecturer of Law at Temple.
Research focuses on family law, property law, elder law, and gender inequality. She pioneers legal education innovation through textbooks like ChartACourse Family Law (2015) and Property Law: Context and Practice (2017), which integrate real-world legal challenges and policy analysis.
Service activities include co-directing the Family Health Law & Policy Institute, Wills for Heroes DE, and Delaware Family Court Enhancement Project. She serves on leadership boards for the Association of American Law Schools and Delaware ERA Now. Her work addresses elder care systems, domestic violence support, and anti-discrimination advocacy.
Publications span law reviews, textbooks, and policy documents, emphasizing legal reform in family dynamics, economic equity, and educational pedagogy. Her recent work includes contributions to the Delaware Family Court’s abuse prevention protocols and critiques of gendered legal frameworks.
