Professor Dave Strifling is an Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Water Law & Policy Initiative at Marquette Law School. His work focuses on interdisciplinary analysis of water policy, environmental regulation, and legal frameworks. He previously served as Of Counsel at Quarles & Brady LLP (environmental law practice), a Freedman Teaching Fellow at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, and a law clerk to Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David T. Prosser. He holds a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering (magna cum laude) and J.D. (magna cum laude) from Marquette University, plus an LL.M. from Harvard Law School.

Research interests emphasize regulatory design for environmental protection, water resource management, and the intersection of technology with legal policy. His scholarship appears in journals such as the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum, Environmental Law, and the Notre Dame Journal on Emerging Technology. He maintains a licensed Wisconsin Professional Engineer status, reflecting his prior five-year career in civil/environmental engineering specializing in water supply and wastewater systems.
Professional roles include faculty advisor to the Environmental Law Society and membership in the Wisconsin State Bar Association and American Bar Association.
