Alicia Becton is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Research, Counseling & Curriculum at Augusta University's College of Education and Human Development. With over two decades of experience in mental health services and governmental agency administration, she specializes in serving stigmatized populations including the Black community, persons with disabilities, and individuals in recovery.

Her research focuses on effective treatment modalities for special populations and developing wellness frameworks to mitigate educator burnout. She explores economic mobility barriers for marginalized groups and integrates disability awareness into multicultural counseling practices.
Recent publications examine post-pandemic recovery challenges, intersectionality in rehabilitation policy, and educator wellness training. Her work spans journal articles and book chapters in clinical mental health, rehabilitation counseling, and educational psychology.

Dr. Becton holds multiple certifications including Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (BBS, 2022), National Certified Counselor (NBCC, 2020), and Approved Clinical Supervisor (CCE, 2021). She teaches COUN 6890 Practicum in CMHC.
