Dr. Alicia Arnold is an Associate Professor at the Medical College of Georgia, Department of Surgery specializing in Surgical Oncology. She is a Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellowship Trained Breast Surgical Oncologist at the Georgia Cancer Center with affiliation of the Augusta University Medical Center.
Dr. Arnold completed her educational journey with a DO in Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteop (2011), a BS in Psychology from the University of North Carolina (2006), and a Fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology from the University of Miami (2017).
As a breast cancer survivor herself, Dr. Arnold specializes in breast surgical oncology with research interests focused on improving clinical outcomes for breast cancer patients. Her work emphasizes improved cosmesis, reduced pain and infection rates post-operatively, and providing novel techniques to reduce lymphedema. She is involved in numerous ongoing clinical trials to provide the most up-to-date care to cancer patients. Her expertise spans breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship care, with a special focus on patient-centered approaches informed by her personal experience as a survivor.
Dr. Arnold's research publications demonstrate expertise across breast cancer diagnosis, surgical techniques, and complication prevention. Her work on lymphedema prevention through the S-LYMPHA technique represents innovative approaches to improving quality of life for breast cancer survivors. Her publications span clinical research, surgical techniques, and comprehensive patient care approaches.

Dr. Arnold serves as the Associate Surgery Clerkship Director, providing education for third-year medical students' surgery curriculum and delivering academic half-day lectures. She mentors medical students and surgery residents while serving on multiple committees dedicated to improving surgery resident education. Her commitment to teaching excellence was recognized with the MCG Exemplary Teaching Award in 2023.
At the Georgia Cancer Center, Dr. Arnold leads the breast cancer program as the primary breast surgeon, treating patients with benign and malignant breast disease while assisting in other surgical oncologic needs. Her clinical practice integrates the latest evidence-based approaches with personalized care informed by her own experience as a breast cancer survivor.
