معرفی
Alice Ting is a Professor of Genetics, Biology, and Chemistry (courtesy) at Stanford University, affiliated with the School of Humanities and Sciences. She leads the Ting Laboratory, focusing on developing chemical biology tools to probe molecular and cellular networks, with applications in neuroscience, immunology, cancer research, and mitochondrial biology. Her work integrates protein engineering, directed evolution, and proximity labeling technologies to study protein interactions and signaling pathways in living systems.
Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry (2000, UC Berkeley, advisor Peter Schultz), A.B. in Chemistry (1996, Harvard University, advisor E.J. Corey), Postdoc in Biochemistry (2002, UC San Diego, advisor Roger Tsien). Affiliated programs include ChEM-H, CMAD, and SSRL at Stanford.
Research emphasizes proximity labeling techniques like TurboID and APEX2 for spatial proteomics, RNA localization mapping, and functional interactome analysis. Recent work explores synthetic GPCRs, light-activated toxins, and engineered enzymes for biomedical applications. Her lab's innovations enable high-resolution studies of cellular processes, including synaptic wiring, immune signaling, and mitochondrial dynamics.
Publications span 20+ years, with a focus on developing cutting-edge tools for proteomic and transcriptomic analysis, including TransitID, MFB, and LipoID technologies. These methods have advanced understanding of protein trafficking, RNA localization, and host-pathogen interactions.
Lab and collaborations: The Ting Group collaborates across disciplines, leveraging Stanford's interdisciplinary environment. Current initiatives include in vivo cell-surface proteomics, synthetic biology for disease modeling, and next-generation proximity labeling platforms.
