Ali Malkawi is a Professor of Architectural Technology at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD). He serves as Director of the Doctor of Design Studies Program and Founding Director of the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities. His research focuses on computational simulation, building performance evaluation, and sustainable design strategies. Previously, he held academic roles at the Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, and University of Pennsylvania, where he chaired the Graduate Group in Architecture.

- Co-author of over 130 scientific papers and co-editor of three books
His research interests span energy-efficient design, low-energy high-rise structures, and decision-support tools for architects. He teaches courses such as Environmental Systems, Building Simulation, and Discourse and Research Methods. Malkawi has advised doctoral candidates through courses like Thesis Preparation and has collaborated on projects including airport designs and super-towers.
