Dr. Ali Black is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and Tertiary Access at the University of the Sunshine Coast, where she also serves as Program Coordinator for the Master of Education. Her academic foundation includes a PhD and MEd from Queensland University of Technology, a BEd from Brisbane College of Advanced Education, and a Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching. Black specializes in innovative arts-based and narrative methodologies that foster community connectedness, wellbeing, and creative professional identities.
Her research explores interconnected domains including arts-based inquiry, childhood-nature relationships, academic identities, and gender studies. She employs creative methodologies like autoethnography, collective biography, and visual representation to examine lived experiences in education. Her scholarly focus emphasizes ethical care, relational knowledge construction, and resistance to neoliberal academic pressures.
