Bettina Judd is Acting Associate Professor of African American Studies at Emory University. She holds a BA from Spelman College and MA/PhD in Women’s Studies from the University of Maryland. Her monograph Feelin: Creative Practice, Pleasure, and Black Feminist Thought argues that Black women's creative production constitutes feminist knowledge through affective registers she terms 'feelin.'
Research explores intersections of art, medicine, and feminism, particularly examining histories of medical experimentation on Black women as reflected in her poetry collection patient., winner of the Black Lawrence Press Hudson Book Prize. Her 2019 article 'Sapphire as Praxis' received Feminist Studies' Claire G. Moses Award.
