Alfredo Paloyo

Alfredo Paloyo is an Associate Professor and Discipline Leader (Department Chair) of Economics at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He contributes to evidence-based policymaking in labor, education, and health economics. His primary affiliation is as Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong, with additional roles as Associate Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course, and Research Fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research, and Global Labor Organization. He is also a Research Affiliate at the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute at the Australian National University.

His research focuses on labor economics, tax policy, and public policy, with a recent publication analyzing the redistributive effects of consumption taxes in developing economies. Paloyo actively engages in academic outreach, including organizing workshops like the Australian Gender Economics Workshop and hosting lectures by prominent policymakers such as Danielle Wood of the Productivity Commission.
