Alfred Flores is an Associate Professor of Asian American Studies at Harvey Mudd College. His research focuses on settler colonialism, militarism, and labor studies in Pacific Islander communities, particularly in Guåhan (Guam). He recently received an honorable mention award from the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) for his book *Tip of the Spear* (Cornell University Press, 2023). Flores is also a 2025-2026 faculty fellow with the ASIANetwork's AAPI Voices and Stories program, funded by the Mellon Foundation, to conduct oral history interviews with Marshallese communities in Southern California through his partnership with the Marshallese Youth of Orange County (MYOC).
His work bridges academic scholarship and community engagement, emphasizing marginalized voices in decolonial struggles. The Mellon-funded project aims to document intergenerational narratives of displacement and resilience among Marshallese populations.
