Alexis Keller is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Geneva, where he has been a faculty member since 2005. He currently serves as Director of the Department of History and Philosophy of Law and as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law. He is also a Visiting Professor at Sciences Po, Paris, since 2011.
His research focuses on the historical and theoretical dimensions of law and politics. Key areas include:
- History of Constitutional Law
- History of International Law
- History of Legal and Political Thought
- Philosophy and Sociology of Law
His scholarly and diplomatic work has centered on peace processes, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including his role in the Geneva Initiative and as Special Representative of the Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Middle East Peace Process (2003–2004).
He has received several notable honors:
- Latsis Prize (2001)
- Condorcet–Raymond Aron International Prize (2004)
- Honorary Doctorate from the University of Paris XIII (2005)
- Sean MacBride Prize
Keller is actively involved in academic leadership and public service. He is President of the Foundation Council of the Autonomous Faculty of Protestant Theology at the University of Geneva, a member of the Foundation Council of Pro-victimis, and serves on the Advisory Board of the International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICTJ). He is also a member of the International Committee of the Red Cross and co-directs the Swiss National Science Foundation project “Just Peace, Unjust Peace” with Prof. Pierre Allan (FNS n°100012 – 126822/1).
