Dr. Alexandre Mortelette is a doctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg's Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, Department of Social Sciences. His work focuses on civil society, human rights, and due diligence legislation, with particular emphasis on non-state actors' influence in normative change processes.
- Education: Bachelor's in Political Science (Freie Universität Berlin), Master's in European Governance (University of Luxembourg)
His research explores how civil society organizations contribute to human rights standard-setting, analyzing their policy influence in national, European, and international contexts. Current projects examine citizens' initiatives for due diligence laws and the implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants.
Recent publications demonstrate his expertise across diverse areas including: normative change mechanisms (2025), pandemic-era legislative adaptations (2021), rural human rights frameworks (2021), environmental justice in conflict zones (2020), and EU policy coherence (2019).
At the University of Luxembourg, he works under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Harmsen, UNESCO Chair in Human Rights, and collaborates with development NGOs on issues of peasant rights and food sovereignty.
