Alexandra Wray is a Health Services Research Fellow at York St John University and Matron at Hull University Hospitals NHS Trust, specializing in education and staff development. She holds a BSc in Adult Nursing (University of Hull, 2007), MSc in Health Education and Leadership (2019), and recently submitted a PhD funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research. Her research focuses on bereavement support experiences for children and surviving parents following parental death, using constructivist grounded theory and participatory action research methods.
Key professional roles include managing hospital bereavement support teams, chairing the Hull Child Bereavement Advisory Group, and leading a participatory action research project with PAUL for Brain Recovery. She also delivers child bereavement training as a freelance facilitator for Child Bereavement UK.
Research interests span bereavement support systems, end-of-life care, and creative/participatory research methodologies. She has presented work at international conferences including the European Association for Palliative Care Congress and Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre events. Current projects include forest-based bereavement support interventions and mental wellbeing initiatives for families with acquired brain injury.
