Alexander Wilhelmi serves as a Research Fellow at the Chair of Art Theory and Curating at Zeppelin University and concurrently works as a curatorial assistant for Fürstenberg Zeitgenössisch, a private contemporary art collection in Donaueschingen, Germany.
His academic background includes:
- BA in Economics and Management from Zeppelin University (2011)
- MSc in Cultural Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2013)
- MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute
Wilhelmi's research centers on the historical dynamics of art markets and innovative visual methodologies in socio-cultural analysis. His dissertation project "The Trade & the Image: Portraits of Art Dealers in the 20th Century" employs rigorous visual analysis to examine dealer-artist relationships, the evolution of visual language in dealer portraiture, and representations of dealers' social status within broader art trade discourses. This work bridges art historical scholarship with sociological inquiry through systematic examination of 20th-century portraiture.
During his MA studies at the Courtauld Institute, he gained professional experience through part-time work at Sotheby's in London, informing his practical understanding of art market operations.
