Alexander Varshavsky is the Thomas Hunt Morgan Professor of Biology at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) since 2017. He previously held the Howard & Gwen Laurie Smits Professorship in Cell Biology at Caltech (1992-2016) and served as a Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1986 to 2016. His research focuses on the ubiquitin system, the N-end rule pathway, and novel cancer therapies.
