Alexander Chee is a Professor of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College, specializing in fiction writing and literary criticism. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa and a B.A. from Wesleyan University. His works include the novels Edinburgh (2001) and The Queen of the Night (2016), and an essay collection How To Write An Autobiographical Novel (2018). Chee’s research focuses on creative writing techniques, literary criticism, and intersections of gender and culture.
As a contributing editor at The New Republic, editor-at-large at The Virginia Quarterly Review, and critic-at-large at The Los Angeles Times, he engages deeply with contemporary literature. His awards include the Whiting Award (2003), NEA Fellowship (2004), and residency fellowships at prestigious institutions like MacDowell Colony and Civitella Ranieri.
