Alex Ashmore is a Lecturer in Crime and Investigative Studies at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), serving as Employability Lead for Forensic and Investigative Courses. He is affiliated with the Forensic & Investigative Sciences Research Group. Previously, he held an associate lecturer role (2020–2023) before transitioning to a full-time position in 2023. Alex is also an active Search Technician and First Responder with Cambridge Search and Rescue, contributing to high-risk missing persons investigations and working with police forces.

His research focuses on aquatic environments' impacts on forensic evidence, decomposition processes, and police-Search and Rescue collaborations. Teaching spans modules like UK Legal Systems, Investigative Skills, and Forensic Anthropology. He integrates practical experience from SAR operations and field deployments into academic roles.
