Alessandro Pagliara is an Associate Professor of Roman History at the University of Parma's Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries (DUSIC), a position held since December 2019. Previously, he served as a researcher (2016-2019) at the same institution. He holds leadership roles including membership in the PhD teaching board for Philological, Literary, Historical, Philosophical and Artistic Studies, and is the University's representative for RUNIPACE (Rete Università per la Pace). He organizes the public lecture series Seminari di Europa and oversees student guidance for the Letters degree program.
Education:
Pagliara earned a degree in Classics from Sapienza University of Rome (1993), a piano diploma from Santa Cecilia Conservatoire (1991), and dual doctorates: Ancient History (University of Perugia, 2002) and Medieval Renaissance Classical Studies (University of Florence, 2012).

His interdisciplinary work bridges literary analysis, archaeology, and ethnography across four domains:
- Pre-Roman/Roman Italy and Magna Graecia/Sicily
- Music's intersection with ethics/politics in classical literature
- Late Antiquity political/religious history
- Reception of classical themes in modern contexts

Recent works (2023-2024) explore Virgil's Aeneid, metaphorical journeys in Roman mythology, cultural legacy of Rome, and academia's role in peacebuilding. His scholarship consistently connects antiquity with contemporary societal discourse.
