Aleksei Kelli is a Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Tartu's Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Law, where he also serves as Deputy Director for Research. His academic career spans over two decades at the University of Tartu, progressing from research assistant to full professor.
Dr. Kelli holds a Doctor's Degree (2009) and a Research Master's Degree (2005), both from the University of Tartu Faculty of Law. His doctoral dissertation focused on the development of Estonia's intellectual property system to meet knowledge-based economy challenges.
His research primarily centers on intellectual property law with specializations in copyright law, patent law, data protection, and the legal implications of artificial intelligence.
