Aleksandra Torbica is an Associate Professor at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, Bocconi University. She previously served as Director of the Centre for Research for Health and Social Care Management (CERGAS) from 2017 to 2022, and currently holds leadership roles as President of the Italian Health Economics Association (AIES) and President-Elect of the European Health Economics Association. She advises the WHO-endorsed Pan-European Commission on Health and Sustainable Development and holds a MSc in Health Economics from Bocconi University and a PhD in Economics and Management of Public Organizations from the University of Parma.
Her research focuses on the intersection of health policy, economics, and management, emphasizing Health Technology Assessment (HTA), healthcare governance, and global public health in low- and middle-income countries. She teaches courses on health economics, public management, and healthcare regulation, integrating theoretical frameworks with real-world case studies.
Her work bridges disciplines to address complex healthcare challenges, including pandemic response strategies, medical device evaluation, and healthcare equity. She is a proponent of evidence-based policy and has contributed to international studies on healthcare financing and system efficiency.
Outside academia, she is an advocate for mountain sports and sustainable living, reflecting her belief in balancing professional rigor with personal well-being.
