Albert H. Choi is the Paul G. Kauper Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School. His research focuses on corporate law, contract law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, antitrust, and law and economics. He holds a BA from Pomona College, a PhD in Economics from MIT, and a JD from Yale University.
Choi has held visiting professorships at Yale, Harvard, Columbia, and the University of Pennsylvania Law Schools. He served as Director of the American Law and Economics Association (2011-2014) and is currently Co-Editor of the American Law and Economics Review. His work has been featured in top journals like the American Economic Review, Virginia Law Review, and Journal of Legal Studies.
Key research interests include corporate governance dynamics, meme stock impacts, contractual remedies in M&A, and IPO governance structures. His recent scholarship explores retail investor behavior, liability in equity financing, and regulatory failures affecting creditors and shareholders.
