Dr. Albert C. Aragonès is a Serra-Húnter Lecturer and Head of a Max Planck Institute Partner Group at the University of Barcelona. He holds a Master’s degree (2012) and a Ph.D. (2017) in Molecular Electronics from the University of Barcelona, followed by postdoctoral research at King’s College London, the Max Planck Institute (Mainz, Germany), and returned to the University of Barcelona in 2021 as a junior group leader funded by the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation.
His research focuses on molecular-scale charge transport mechanisms, particularly under force fields, and integrates plasmonics and nano-optical trapping techniques. Key themes include single-molecule junctions, electrostatic catalysis, and spin-dependent transport in biomolecular systems.
Notable scientific achievements include the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (2019). His work explores cutting-edge applications in bioengineering, molecular electronics, and nanoscale sensor development. Funding sources include the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation and European postdoctoral fellowships.
He leads the ChemInFlow Group at the University of Barcelona, dedicated to advancing chemical and nanoscale molecular research. Collaborations span institutions like the Max Planck Institute, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to science.
