معرفی
Alastair Robert Lyndon is an Associate Professor at Heriot-Watt University's School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, affiliated with the Institute for Life and Earth Sciences. He holds dual roles within these academic units and has been actively involved in research since 1988. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to life below water and sustainable cities.
Research Interests: Lyndon's expertise spans fish physiology, aquaculture health, parasite control, and marine biodiversity. Key areas include non-nutritional growth enhancement in fish, gill metabolism, fish cell culture techniques, and the ecological impacts of therapeutant chemicals. His recent studies investigate the effects of renewable energy infrastructure on marine species and the application of phytoimmunostimulants in fish immunity.
Recent Research Trends: His 2024-2025 publications focus on ecotoxicology (amphipod behavior studies), aquaculture health (carp immunity), and marine spatial conservation (Fair Isle sea caves). Earlier work explored electromagnetic field impacts on edible crabs linked to renewable energy projects.
- Scientific Awards: Nicol Zoology Prize (1987), Graduate Teaching Award (2013), and HEA Fellowship (2009).
Advising & Grants: Accepts PhD students, participates in marine ecosystem restoration projects, and collaborates on vaccines for finfish aquaculture. Served as Chair of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles (2013-2017).
Labs/Teams: Active in the Institute for Life and Earth Sciences, contributing to interdisciplinary marine and environmental research initiatives.
