Alastair Lockhart

Alastair Lockhart is College Lecturer in Modern History at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, and Director of Studies for Theology at Hughes Hall. His research examines 20th century religious history, specializing in new religious movements, apocalypticism, and the psychology of religion.

• Millenarian movements
• Spiritual healing practices
• Cognitive science of religion

Authored 'Personal Religion and Spiritual Healing: The Panacea Society in the Twentieth Century' (SUNY Press, 2019) using extensive correspondence archives to analyze global metaphysical thinking. Edited the Critical Dictionary of Apocalyptic and Millenarian Movements. Holds degrees from Cambridge and London universities, with fellowship in the Royal Anthropological Institute.
