Alaric Bourgoin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at HEC Montréal, serving as Co-director of the Top Executives and Strategic Management Hub. He holds a M.Sc. in Management from HEC Montréal and a Doctorate (Socio-économie de l'innovation) from École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris. His expertise lies in Management Consulting, Professional Service Firms, and Strategic Dialogue, with a focus on CEO behavior, organizational authority, and leadership dynamics.
His research explores topics such as CEO loneliness, narcissism in leadership, and the materialization of authority in organizations. Notable contributions include studies on executive emotional labor and the challenges in CEO research methodologies. He has supervised nine Master’s students in areas like organizational autonomy, consultant performance, and workplace animal presence.
Teaching includes courses on negotiation, organizational politics, and strategic management consulting. His work has been recognized with the Human Relations Paper of the Year Award (2018). Bourgoin collaborates closely with organizations like the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and explores radical transformations in public sector management through peer-reviewed case studies.
