Roland Parenteau is a distinguished academic and public servant, serving as a Professor of Economics at HEC Montréal during two periods (1945–1964 and 1978–1987). He played a pivotal role in founding the HEC Montréal Co-op (originally the Association coopérative étudiante des HEC) in 1944. Beyond academia, he held leadership roles as Executive Director of the Conseil d’orientation économique du Québec, founding Director of the Office de planification du Québec, and founder of the École nationale d’administration publique (ÉNAP) in 1969.
His career reflects expertise in economic policy, public administration, and institutional development. He was recognized with the Ordre national du Québec (Officier) in 1994 for his contributions to Quebec society. His work bridged academia and public service, shaping economic and administrative frameworks in Quebec.
