Alan McBlane

Alan McBlane is a Senior Lecturer in Events Management at Oxford Brookes Business School, specializing in practical event management education. He joined Oxford Brookes in 2018 after leading the Music & Live Events Management course at Bucks New University, which achieved 100% student satisfaction in NSS surveys. His teaching focuses on sustainable event projects, charity events, and celebratory event management. McBlane has over 20 years of industry experience in music business sales, artist management, and senior marketing roles at record labels.

He holds an MA in Music and Entertainment Management. Awards include the 2021 Sustainability in Teaching Award and 2020 Outstanding Teaching for Employability. His research emphasizes health and safety practices in student-led events, as published in Pedagogic Cases for Event Management and Event Tourism (2023).

McBlane supervises undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, work placements, and event management projects. He actively contributes to curriculum development and has pioneered experiential learning models linking academic theory with industry practice.
