- Deputy Head of School at the School of Engineering
Research Interests:
Dr. Kwan's work focuses on Sustainability Informatics (telemetry, control systems), Deployable Structures (pantographic systems, kinematics), and Structural Optimization (genetic algorithms). His recent grants total £1.04M, with additional £6.8M from collaborative projects, all in sustainability informatics.
Scientific Contributions:
He has supervised 21 PhD students (19 completed) and two MPhil students. His KTP project with Reid Lifting Ltd. led to commercialization of a deployable lifting product, earning two Queen’s Awards in 2013.
