Alan Finkelstein Shapiro is an Associate Professor of Economics at Tufts University's School of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland (2013) and specializes in macroeconomics, macro-labor, macro-climate, and international macroeconomics. His research explores labor market dynamics, financial frictions, business cycles in advanced and emerging economies, and the impact of climate policies on labor and macroeconomic outcomes. He has held visiting roles at institutions like the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the IMF.
Education: Ph.D. Economics, University of Maryland (2013); M.A. Economics, University of Maryland (2011); B.A. Economics (Distinction), Boston University (2008).
Research interests include the interplay between climate policies and labor markets, financial inclusion, and the macroeconomic implications of digital adoption. He has published widely in top journals like the Journal of International Economics and Journal of Development Economics.
