Alain Perusset is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies (CIM) at the University of Warwick. He holds a PhD from the University of Burgundy Franche-Comté (France) and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland). His academic background spans social sciences, communication studies, linguistics, and French literature. As a specialist in semiotics and socio-semiotics, his research focuses on meaning-making processes in identities, practices, consumption, and brand management. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and the University of Chicago.
His research interests include the semiotics of objects, practices, and cultures; narrative and categorial semiotics; sociology of (post)modernity; brand architecture; and nation branding. He has authored the book Sémiotique des formes de vie. Monde de sens, manières d’être (2020), exploring semiotic frameworks for understanding forms of life and cultural meaning. His work bridges theoretical semiotics with applied research in marketing and cultural studies.
Perusset’s publications analyze semiotic approaches to brand strategies, consumer experiences, and cultural narratives. His interdisciplinary work engages with post-structuralist theories, Greimasian semantics, and comparative analyses of cultural practices.
