Aimee Smith is a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick's School of Politics and International Studies (PAIS), affiliated with the Open Research Area (ORA7) funded Inclusive Peace project. This collaborative initiative involves partnerships with the ESRC (UK), SSHRC (Canada), ANR (France/New Caledonia), and JSPS (Japan). She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Aberdeen and has conducted post-doctoral research at Queen’s University Belfast and University College Dublin.
Her research focuses on the sociology of childhood and youth, emphasizing education, peace, and gender equality. Recent work includes mixed-methods longitudinal studies on schooling and children's rights in Ireland and Sierra Leone, alongside projects evaluating peacebuilding and educational interventions globally. Her research bridges sociological theory with practical policy development in conflict-affected regions.
Current funded projects emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to inclusive peace, leveraging her expertise in education and youth dynamics. She collaborates internationally to advance evidence-based strategies for equitable educational outcomes and sustainable peace initiatives.
